Robert Dale Wrye, 66, of Metropolis, passed away on Monday, Jan. 13, 2025, at the Ray and Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center in Paducah, surrounded by family.Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 17, 2025, at the Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home with Rev. Frank Forthman officiating. Burial will follow in I.O.O.F. Cemetery.Robert worked at Laidlaw for 20-plus years, then went to work for Progress Rail until he retired. He loved construction and carpentry and took it up full-time after retirement.Robert is survived by his mother, Dora Wrye; wife, Mary Wrye; children, Ralph Myers (Bobbi) and Gabriel Wrye; grandchildren, Logan Joiner (Haylee), Gavin Myers and Bailey Myers; great-grandchildren, Dempsey Joiner and Callum Joiner; brothers, James Wrye and Samuel Wrye; sisters, Nancy Wrye and Linda Jacobs; several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his father, J.L.
