Janet Sue Powell Maggio was called to the Lord's house Aug. 11, 2024.Janet was born to Lottie and Quentin Powell of Metropolis on June 28, 1948.She graduated Metropolis High School in 1966, and went on to attend Southern Illinois University Carbondale graduating with a teaching degree in English. While attending SIU, she met and married the love of her life, Leonard Maggio and was married for 55 years. She taught high school English in Rockford for two years and then decided to follow her husband while he served for 30 years in the United States Air Force. Retirement in 2002 brought Janet back to Massac County where she settled down and built their retirement home on family farmland. Janet was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. She spent her entire life supporting family friends and community.She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and member of Fort Massac Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) where she served as secretary and treasurer for several years.She
