Margaret Ellen Pogue was born on Oct. 23, 1932, in Massac County and departed this life on July 12, 2024, at age 91 years, peacefully in her home surrounded by her loved ones.Margaret had many childhood memories that she shared throughout her life with each generation. Some were told more frequently than others, but some of the most vivid for her were caring for her younger siblings, Lindell and Donna Kay, especially how she had to pull Lindell in his wagon after her school day. She also spoke of the great flood of 1937. She fondly recalled her daddy taking her in a rowboat back to their home to retrieve her beloved chalk popeye doll. Margaret was also an ace at playing jacks as a child. She later taught this art to her daughter and granddaughter.Margaret obtained her first job working at the Massac Theater as an usher for 25 cents and a bag of popcorn.
